Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

Following overnight rain yesterday and snowmelt levels on the Lower River Aire remain high. Some of the lower Aire washlands are now operating.
Flooding is possible. Areas most at risk include River Aire from Ferrybridge to Chapel Haddlesey.
River levels at Ferrybridge are now falling and are forecast to continue to do so over the coming days. River levels at Chapel Haddlesey are now peaking and should start to fall overnight into tomorrow, Tuesday 6th January 2025. No further significant rainfall is expected over the next couple of days.
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses
We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels.
This message will be updated by 12:00 on 07/01/2025, or as the situation changes.
