Flooding expected. Take action now.
This message has been issued because some minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside areas is likely throughout this evening and overnight until tomorrow, Wednesday 3rd January. River levels are rising steadily in response to the recent rainfall on saturated ground but should stabilise soon. Areas most at risk are Lavenham, Brent Eleigh, Monks Eleigh, Chelsworth, Semer, Ash St, Kersey Mill, Hadleigh, Upper Layham, and Shelley including the A1071 at Hadleigh and the A1141. We are not currently expecting the situation to escalate, or to issue any further warning messages at this time. The forecast is for continued unsettled weather over the next couple of days with further rain showers through the week. Take care on riverside footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. We are monitoring the situation and not expecting the situation to escalate. We will update this message tomorrow morning, Wednesday 3rd January 2024.
