Flooding possible. Be prepared.
River levels in the Lower River Calder catchment are rising due to persistent rainfall. Levels are expected to continue to rise and currently expected to peak in Mirfield area around 6:00PM, Wakefield around 9:00PM.
Flooding of low lying land is possible on 15 December 2025 until the morning of Tuesday 16 December 2025. There may be surface water flooding issues during the heavier spells of rainfall.
This alert covers the River Calder from Brighouse to Castleford including Chickenley Beck, Spring Mill Beck and Waindike. Locations most affected will be low lying land and roads near rivers. Rainfall is expected to continue until the early hours of Tuesday morning.
We are not currently expecting to issue Flood Warnings, but we are monitoring the situation.
Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.
This message will be updated by 8:00PM on 15 December 2025 or as the situation changes.
