Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

The recent heavy rain has passed through the area and the River Parrett peak has fallen below Warning level at Chiselborough, but it is still very high further downstream in the Gawbridge area due to the very wet catchments and the peak flows still passing down the river system. Flooding is still possible this evening and overnight, Tuesday 09 December 2025, and into early Wednesday. Areas most at risk include the River Parrett downstream of Gawbridge and Parrett Works near Martock. Drier weather is forecast on Wednesday and Thursday, though another band of rain is forecast on Thursday night into early Friday, which may bring further impacts. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels. We are checking defences and clearing bridges, culverts and screens. Move family, pets and cars to safety and turn off gas, electricity and water if it is safe to do so. Refer to the local authority website for road closures. This message will be updated by 12:00PM on 10 December 2025 or as the situation changes.
