Flooding possible. Be prepared.
River levels remain high on Friday 23rd January following overnight rain. Flooding is possible as a result.
Areas most at risk include locations near the River Isle and River Parrett, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly roads and areas around Ashford Mill, Isle Brewers, Fivehead, the Norton sub Hambdon to Stratton road, the A356 and the B3165 at Chiselborough and the B3168 at Ilford Bridges. The lower River Parrett remains bank-full and spillways are running.
Unsettled conditions with spells of heavy rain are forecast for the coming days. We are closely monitoring the situation and Field Teams are out clearing debris screens and checking rivers for blockages.
Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Remain aware of local water levels and weather conditions and don’t put yourself or others at risk.
This message will be updated by 12 midday on 24/01/2026, or as the situation changes.
