Flood alert

River levels are falling on the River Tone, Hillfarrance Brook and the Halsewater Stream, but remain above the Flood Alert threshold at the Bishops Hull river gauge due to last night's rainfall. Areas most at risk are locations near the River Tone, Hillfarrance Brook, Halsewater Stream, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around roads around Hillfarrance, Bradford on Tone, Lane End Road at Ham and the Creech St Michael to Henlade road. Bradford on Tone ringbanks will be bankfull.

Rain has cleared south-eastwards on Thursday morning, leaving Somerset largely dry before another band of moderate rain moves in from the west on Friday. Patchy light rain is likely at times on Saturday, with a cold front on Sunday potentially bringing heavier rain.

We are monitoring rainfall and river levels closely. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Don't put yourself or others at risk. This message will be updated by 1:00PM on 20 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
