Flood alert

High river levels today may lead to flooding. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads including Willington, Ingleby, Barrow upon Trent, Swarkestone, the B5008 at Willington, the access frontage at Swarkestone, the A5132 between Willington and Barrow, and Meadow Lane, Bargate Lane, and the access roads to Willington Meadows, the Twyford Village access road, Church Lane at Barrow, and Ingleby Lane. We are closely monitoring the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Light rainfall is forecast today and tomorrow. River levels at the Willington and Shardlow gauges will remain high until Tuesday, 17/03/2026. This message will be updated before 10AM on 16th March 2026 or as the situation changes.
