Flooding expected. Take action now.
Flooding is expected on late Sunday evening into the early hours of Monday morning.
Heavy rain has fallen in the area throughout Sunday and the river Yealm has crossed through flood alert and river levels are currently high. We expect river levels to continue to rise in response to further rainfall this evening. Flooding to property is possible.
Properties and low lying areas around Sandpark Wood at Yealmbridge, and Mill Leat Close, Torr Bridge Park and Boldventure at Yealmpton are at risk of flooding first. River levels will be at their highest overnight and will remain elevated throughout Monday 19th December.
Flood waters may be deep and fast flowing in these areas. Residents are strongly urged to take action now and install property flood resilience. Remain safe and be aware of your local surroundings.
We will be closely monitoring the situation and this message will be updated as the situation changes. Our staff are out in the area and will relay information and assist the emergency services and council.
