Flooding possible. Be prepared.
River levels are expected to remain high and flooding is possible throughout Thursday and overnight into Friday.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Yeo, River Parrett and Kings Sedgemoor Drain. Low lying land and roads are expected to be most affected, particularly low lying areas west of the M5 to the coast, including Bridgwater and Chilton Trinity.
Further rain and unsettled conditions are forecast for the coming days and rivers are expected to respond to this. We continue to monitor rainfall and river levels closely, and Field Teams are out clearing debris screens and checking rivers for blockages.
Please avoid using low lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses, and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 12 midday on the 23rd January 2026, or as the situation changes.
