Flood alert

Localised flood water remains in the low-lying areas near the River Parrett estuary between Bridgwater and the coast. Low lying land and roads may be affected, particularly in areas west of the M5 to the coast, including near Chilton Trinity, Combwich and Steart.

Somerset can expect patchy rain today followed by a cold front bringing more widespread rain overnight and persistent, sometimes heavy rain on Sunday morning before it clears later in the day. Monday should start brighter with only a few showers.

Catchments remain saturated and rivers are very responsive to further rain. We are closely monitoring the situation. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Remain aware of local water levels and weather conditions and don’t put yourself or others at risk. This message will be updated by 1PM on 22nd February 2026, or as the situation changes.
