Flood alert

High river levels today may lead to flooding. Flooding is possible overnight on Friday 9 January 2026. River levels are high following heavy rainfall from Storm Goretti. Areas most at risk are low lying roads and riverside areas on the River Box from Little Waldingfield to Thorrington Street, including Boxford, and on the River Brett from Cockfield to Higham, including Hadleigh. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Avoid low lying roads near rivers which may now be flooded. This message will be updated by 10am Saturday 10th January or as the situation changes.
