Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Friday afternoon's tide at 12:15 on 18/02/2022 is higher than normal due to Storm Eunice which brings Severe Gale Force 9 Westerly winds and very large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.64 m. The total forecast tide is 6.31 metres Chart Datum (3.26 mAOD) at Littlehampton. For 1 hour either side of high water, Mill Lane, Sidlesham will flood, making access temporarily more difficult. Strong winds and large waves will generate lots of spray affecting the beach top properties and nearby roads in Selsey, Pagham, Bognor and Elmer. Friday evening’s tide will be 50cm lower. However, strong winds and large waves will continue over the weekend, albeit not as extreme. Saturday’s midday tide could see a return of minor flood impacts, when tide levels could be similar to midday Friday. We continue to monitor the forecast. If you have it, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide. Avoid driving on Mill Lane at high tide. We will update this message by 18:00 on 18/02/2022
