Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

High tides are expected to cause flooding over the evening tide on Wednesday 4 February and morning tide on Thursday 5 February.

Areas particularly at risk include exposed coastal areas of Plymouth Sound including Cawsand, Kingsand and The Hoe, Millbrook and low lying areas on the Tidal Lynher, Tamar, Tavy, Plym and Yealm estuaries.

The high tide at Plymouth on Wednesday evening is 19:48 and Thursday morning is at 08:00, times of high water will vary along the coast.

Forecast total high tide level is 2.76m and 3.02mAOD repectivley. Expect tide levels along the coast to be between 0.5 and 0.7 metres above tide table level. Force 7 easterly winds tonight moving to force 4 Southerly winds on Thursday and offshore wave heights of over 2m are forecast over the high tide.

Coastal conditions should ease for Thursday evening's high tide.

We are closely monitoring the situation.

Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded.
