Flooding expected. Take action now.
This message has been issued because flooding of homes and businesses is likely between 4.15pm and 6.15pm today, Thursday 21st December. Tides are expected to be higher than usual, due to the forecast weather conditions. Areas most at risk are around Southwold Harbour, Ferry Road, the bottom of Queens Road and Constitution Hill, North Road, the bottom of Pier Avenue and Mights Road in Southwold; also Bridge Road and Hillside Road in Reydon. The detailed forecast for those that use it is for a peak level at Lowestoft of 2.21 mAODN at 5.15pm today, Thursday 21st December, which is 1.48m above tide tables, wind Force 7, North-Westerly. (mAODN is height above average sea level - for more info refer to local tide tables). The tide on Friday 22nd December at 3am is only currently forecast to be a Flood Alert; we will send a new message before that tide. Stay safe and be prepared with a flood kit of essential items, should you need to evacuate your home. We are monitoring the situation and not expecting the situation to escalate. We will update this message by 9pm this evening.
