Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Water levels in the Stanbridge Stream are high and rising steadily.
In the last 6 hours, 17mm has been recorded at Petersfield, around half a months rainfall. Over the next few hours water levels will be high at Borough Grove, Bedford Road Industrial Estate and to the rear of Borough Road.
Our operations staff have been clearing the debris screen at Borough Grove, however levels remain high just due to the volume of water in the stream.
No further heavy rain is forecast overnight, so the river will have a chance to recover, but levels will be high until Sunday morning.
Residents should take appropriate action to protect their property as a precautionary measure. Keep away from the river bank as water will be fast flowing and deep in some places.
This Flood Alert will be updated at 12:00 on Sunday 16/12/18 or sooner, if we think property flooding will occur.
