Flooding expected. Take action now.
This message has been issued because flooding to coastal roads and footpaths is likely between 9:45pm today, Thursday 19th December and 1:45am tomorrow, Friday 20th December. Strong winds and spring tides may cause large waves and spray overtopping on the coast. The location most at risk of flooding is the A12 at Blythburgh. The detailed forecast for those that use it is for a peak level at Lowestoft of 2.20mAODN at 11:45pm today, Thursday 19th December, which is 1.17m above tide tables, wind force 6, North Westerly. (mAODN is height above average sea level, for more information refer to local tide tables). The current series of high spring tides and surge has now reached its peak, and will fall away over the next few days. Take care on coastal roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. We are monitoring the situation. We will update this message by 10am on Friday 20th December.
