Flooding possible. Be prepared.
High tides, strong winds and large waves this afternoon may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible between 6:15pm and 8:15pm on Thursday 1st January and 6:15am and 8:15am on Friday 2nd January.
We expect to see high water levels in Lake Lothing in Lowestoft as well as high sea levels along the Suffolk Coast, impacting on beach access points. The detailed forecast is for a peak level at Lowestoft of 1.92mAODN at 7:15pm, on Thursday 1st January 2026, which is 1.06m above tide tables, Wind Force 8, North Westerly. Additional Flood Alert with peak level at Lowestoft of 2.03mAODN at 7:15am, on Friday 2nd January 2026, which is 1.06m above tide tables, Wind Force 6, Westerly. The low pressure system across the North Sea will continue to keep higher than usual tides over the next few days.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded .
