Flood alert

Wednesday's early morning tide at 01:00 on 10/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 5 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.18 m. The total forecast tide is 6.81 metres Chart Datum (3.54 mAOD) at Shoreham. Approximately 40cm lower than Monday evening. Only minimal flood impacts are expected Wednesday's early morning tide, but minor flood impacts are possible Wednesday's afternoon tide at 13:15 10/04/2024. When the tide is forecast to be a little higher (3.60 mAOD). For 1 hour either side of high water Wednesday afternoon, the tide will come close to the top of walls and slipways in Shoreham Town. Minor impact flooding will affect Sussex Yacht Club. Riverbank houseboats will be raised higher than normal, making access to them temporarily more difficult. Tide levels are forecast to be 20cm lower on Thursday. Flood risk should reduce from 11/04/2024. We continue to monitor the forecast. If you have it, please install flood protection 1 hour before high tide. We will update this message by 18:00 on 10/04/2024.
