Flood Alert

Both of Friday’s tides at 01:30 and 13:45 13/3/2020, will be lower than those of Thursday and Wednesday, by at least 20cm. But with wave heights increasing Thursday night, minor flood impacts may stay similar to recent days. The strong Force 7 Westerly winds will increase tide table values by 0.1m. The total forecast tide is 6.76 metres Chart Datum (3.50 mAOD) at Shoreham. For 1 hour either side of high water, the tide will come close to the top of walls and slipways in Shoreham Town. Minor impact flooding will affect Sussex Yacht Club. Riverbank houseboats will be raised higher than normal, making access to them temporarily more difficult. From Saturday 14/3/2020, we should see lower tides and only minimal risk of flooding. The tide is not forecast to flow through our flood gates, so we'll leave them open for access. You may still like to install personal flood protection measures 1 hour before high tide as a precaution. We will remove this message by 19:00 on 13/03/2020
