Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels are rising on Wash Dike as a result of heavy rainfall through this afternoon and into the night of Thursday 5th December 2024. Areas most at risk include properties on Fishergate and Vale Crescent in Ferrybridge as well as properties on, or near Bondgate, Cavendish Avenue, Beech Croft and Atkinson Lane in Pontefract.
Further rainfall as well as strong winds are forecast associated with Storm Darragh on Friday and Saturday. This could cause river levels to remain high for several days. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. We are closely monitoring the situation.
