Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

River levels are expected to rise on Wortley Beck as a result of heavy rainfall through the afternoon and into the night of Thursday 5th December 2024. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible over the next few days. Locations near Wortley Beck and low lying land and roads are expected to be most affected, particularly around Wortley Beck, Farnley Beck, Farnley Wood Beck and Millshaw Beck.

Further rainfall as well as strong winds are forecast associated with Storm Darragh on Friday and Saturday. This could cause river levels to remain high for several days. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.
