Flooding expected. Take action now.
The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.49 and stabilising. Water will enter Currymoor via Hookbridge spillway whilst above 7.45m. The drain level at Currymoor pumping station is 7.51m and is rising in response to overnight rain. Cutts Road and New Road remain closed. Athelney spillway is running but the A361 has been reopened. Road closure information available here www.somerset.gov.uk/roads-travel-and-parking/emergency-road-closure-gates. We are pumping at Northmoor and Saltmoor and have additional mobile pumps at both stations. Pumping at Currymoor has paused and will resume when river levels allow.
Friday in Somerset starts dry before a band of rain moves through, followed by showers in the afternoon. Over the weekend, expect occasional rain Saturday, then a cold front Sunday bringing more persistent rain.
We are monitoring the situation closely and checking floodbanks, spillways and sluices. Please do not drive through flood water. This message will be updated by 1pm on 21/02/2026, or as the situation changes.
