Flooding expected. Take action now.
High river levels are expected to cause flooding on Friday.
Flooding is expected on 09 January 2026 from 14:00, as a lot of rain fell in Storm Goretti (35mm).
Flooding will affect fields, rural roads, gardens, and properties including The Old Clergy House, Deans Place Hotel, and properties near North Street, Willows Car Park and River Lane, Alfriston. Access along Litlington Road may be restricted by flood water. Only a small amount of rain is forecast Friday and Saturday. River levels and flood risk should begin to reduce in Alfriston by 17:00 09/01/2026, but will not return to nearer to a normal level until Saturday evening. Another 10-20mm of rain is forecast on Sunday 11/01/2026, which could cause some minor flood impacts to return.
We are closely monitoring the situation .
Don't put yourself or others at risk . Avoid roads that flood (North Street, Willows Car Park, Litlington Road).
