Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Monday evening's tide at 23:45 on 08/04/2024 is higher than normal, due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.65m. The total forecast tide is 8.23 metres Chart Datum (4.58 mAOD) at Eastbourne. For 2 hours either side of high water, spray is expected to affect the National Cycle Network Route, Bulverhythe railway line, Sea Road and Cinque Ports Way. Large waves and minor flood impacts will still be possible Tuesday afternoon, however Tuesday's tide at 12:30 on 09/04/2024 is forecast to be 50cm lower (3.69 mAOD), so flood risk should be lower. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid walking, cycling or parking at Bulverhythe sea front at high tide. Spray and waves will contain and scatter shingle which is dangerous. We will update this message by 18:00 on 09/04/2024.
