Flood Alert

Monday morning's tide at 11:45 on 10/02/2020 is higher than normal due to Storm Ciara which brings strong Force 7 westerly winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.54 m. The total forecast tide is 7.88 metres Chart Datum (4.23 mAOD) at Eastbourne. For 2 hours either side of high water, spray is expected to affect the National Cycle Network Route, Bulverhythe railway line, Sea Road and Cinque Ports Way. Strong winds and large waves are expected from 08:00 on Sunday 09/02/2020 as Storm Ciara passes across the South East. There is a risk of minor flooding from spray. High tides, large waves and the risk of flooding will remain similar until Thursday 13/02/2020. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid walking, cycling or parking at Bulverhythe sea front at high tide. Spray and waves will contain and scatter shingle which is dangerous. We will update this message by 19:00 on 10/02/2020 in advance of the next high tide at 00:45 on 11/02/2020.
