Flooding expected. Take action now.
The high tides have been creating large waves along the south coast, removing the shingle from Denge Beach. Our staff have been on site replenishing the shingle when it is safe to do so, but there is a risk that the flood defence could overtop during tides over the next few days. Therefore, the Coastguard Cottages and Midrips Cottages, East of Jury’s Gap are particularly at risk. Tides will be at their highest between 10:33 and 14:33 today, 11/02/20 and again between 22:58 today and 02:58 tomorrow, 12/02/20. Flooding to properties and local roads is possible at these times, or if the defence breaches. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and our partners. Please be careful along the beach, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads, as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous and move family, pets and cars to safety. This message will be updated by 20:00 on 11/02/20.
