Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

Groundwater is high, and slowly rising again at the Houndean Bottom borehole. Only showers or small amounts of rain are forecast Friday to Sunday. Groundwater is expected to remain high. Groundwater rise at Houndean Bottom borehole should pause around 09/02/2026. There is uncertainty in the forecast, but currently rain is predicted Monday and Tuesday (10/02/2026), with unsettled weather continuing the rest of next week too. From 10/02/2026 springs will appear, water will affect fields, the recreation ground, and a small number of cellars in Denton. If we get the maximum rain Monday and Tuesday, then a small amount of water may appear on Denton Road, may flow towards Vicarage Close and affect areas near the three ponds in South Heighton. Flood risk will remain until March. Take care on roads that flood (Denton Road). Ensure pumps work. We will monitor, and update this message by 18:00 10/02/2026.
