Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Groundwater is high, close to the surface, but now slowly falling at the Houndean Bottom borehole. Despite Sunday's rain. Widespread rain is forecast Wednesday. There is uncertainty in rainfall amounts. Between 10mm and 40mm. If the smaller amount of rain occurs, groundwater levels could continue to fall. If the maximum rain occurs, groundwater levels will likely rise again. Either way, groundwater flood impacts could continue all week. Probably until March. Springs will appear, water will affect fields, the recreation ground, and a small number of cellars in Denton. If as much rain occurs as predicted on Wednesday, groundwater could rise until 23/02/2026, perhaps longer, and a small amount of water may appear on Denton Road, may flow towards Vicarage Close and affect areas near the three ponds in South Heighton. The weather outlook remains unsettled into March, although perhaps with rain less often. Take care on roads that flood (Denton Road). Ensure pumps work. We will monitor, and update this message by 18:00 20/02/2026.
