Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Groundwater is high, but slowly falling at the Houndean Bottom borehole. Springs will appear, water will affect fields, the recreation ground, and a small number of cellars in Denton. Isolated showers are forecast Tuesday, with another 10-20mm of rain possible Wednesday evening, and showers to the weekend. Groundwater may slowly rise again at Houndean Bottom borehole from Thursday evening, through to Sunday (15/02/2026), but probably not far, and may instead remain stable or fall. The weather outlook remains unsettled. More rain is predicted on Sunday and Monday (16/02/2026). It is possible that groundwater at Houndean Bottom will rise again next week, through to 20/02/2026, but depends on amounts and intensity of rain, which is uncertain. If we get a lot of rain next week, then a small amount of water may appear on Denton Road, may flow towards Vicarage Close and affect areas near the three ponds in South Heighton. Flood risk will remain until March. Take care on roads that flood (Denton Road). Ensure pumps work. We will monitor, and update this message by 18:00 14/02/2026.
