Flood alert

Groundwater is high, close to the surface, but slowly rising again at the Houndean Bottom borehole. Springs will continue to appear, water could affect fields, the recreation ground, and a small number of cellars in Denton. Only small amounts of rain are forecast over the five days to 10/03/2026, and groundwater at Houndean Bottom borehole will continue to slowly fall over the coming week. Groundwater flood impacts are likely to stop being visible soon. There is a suggestion that unsettled conditions and periods of rain could return next week and through the second half of March 2026. However, it is probable that groundwater will continue to fall throughout March. However, if there is persistent, or exceptional rainfall in late March, groundwater may rise at times. Take care on roads that flood (Denton Road). Ensure pumps work. We will monitor, and update this message by 18:00 10/03/2026.
