Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

High groundwater levels may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible from Monday 09/02/2026 after above average rainfall the past month.
A small amount of water could appear in a few basements. Previous events suggest impacts may initially affect Old London Road, Patcham and Peacock Lane, Withdean. A small amount of water may appear on roads. Ladies Mile borehole is expected to pause in its rise around 10/02/2026. However, isolated showers are forecast this weekend, with further bands of rain predicted Tuesday and Wednesday. Unsettled weather could continue throughout February. Groundwater at Ladies Mile could rise through next week, and groundwater in Patcham Village could rise a week more. Perhaps longer if rain continues.
We are closely monitoring the situation the groundwater forecasts & will liaise with Brighton and Hove City Council
Don't put yourself or others at risk Avoid roads that flood (Old London Road). Ensure pumps work.
This message will be updated by 6:00PM on 11 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
