Warning no longer in force

The River Ouse is high following Wednesday's wet weather, when more than half a month's rain (55mm) was recorded at Ardingly. Tide levels at Newhaven on Friday are predicted to peak almost 20cm lower than Thursday. Which means water levels along the lower Ouse on Thursday evening, and on Friday, should not exceed heights we have recently seen. Minor flood impacts could still affect fields, rural roads, and gardens in Hamsey, the Malling Deanery and Pells areas of Lewes and near Piddinghoe Church. Impacts will reduce over the next few days. Very little rain is forecast until Sunday and Monday. Flood risk is not expected to return until another spell of persistently wet weather occurs. Please continue to plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. We will reissue this message when the risk of flooding to properties increases again.
