Flooding possible. Be prepared.
This message has been issued because some minor flooding to coastal roads and footpaths is likely between 9:30pm and 11:30pm today, Thursday 19th December. Strong winds and spring tides may cause large waves and spray overtopping on the coast. We expect high tide levels at Gorleston-on-Sea and water on towpaths and quaysides throughout Great Yarmouth. The detailed forecast for those that use it is for a peak level at Great Yarmouth of 2.25mAODN at 10:30pm today, Thursday 19th December, which is 1.21m above tide tables, wind force 5, Westerly. (mAODN is height above average sea level, for more information refer to local tide tables). The current series of high spring tides and surge has now reached its peak, and will fall away over the next few days. Take care on coastal roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger. We are monitoring the situation. We will update this message by 10am on Friday 20th December.
