Flooding expected. Take action now.
Flooding is possible for high tides on Friday the 21st of August. High Spring tides coinciding with strong winds and large waves are expected to cause flooding on Friday evening. High water at Ilfracombe is at 20:45. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of high tide. Times of high water will vary along the coast. Tide levels are rising towards spring tides which peak on Friday. Storm Ellen is forecast to bring force 6 to 7 south westerly winds and large waves which are expected to cause wave overtopping and sea spray in exposed locations. Avoid low lying and exposed coastal areas. Flood gates at Cheyne Beach will be closed. We will monitor the situation and will update on Saturday or earlier if the situation changes. The forecast high tide level at Ilfracombe is 5.31mAOD. This is 0.32 metres above the astronomical tide level.
