Flooding expected. Take action now.
Monday evening's tide at 23:45 on 08/04/2024 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.65 m. The total forecast tide is 8.23 metres Chart Datum (4.58 mAOD) at Eastbourne. For 2 hours either side of high water, beach top properties from Sovereign Harbour to Cooden Beach, including (but not exclusively) the Parade and Promenade, Pevensey Bay, Beachlands, Normans Bay and Herbrand Walk are expected to be flooded. Coastal roads may be affected by water, shingle and other debris. Large waves and minor flood impacts will still be possible Tuesday afternoon. However, Tuesday's tide at 12:30 on 09/04/2024 is forecast to be 50cm lower (3.69 mAOD). We continue to monitor the forecast. Pevensey Coastal Defence Ltd will maintain the condition of the shingle beach. Spray and waves will contain and scatter shingle. Plan driving routes to avoid Herbrand Walk. Please install flood protection 2 hours before high tide. We will update this message by 18:00 on 09/04/2024.
