Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels at Beal rose this morning in response to rain yesterday and overnight. Further rain is forecast this evening, 29/02/20, and this is expected to cause river levels to rise further and prevent significant washland draining. Based on current forecasts we do not expect this rain to cause further water to enter the washlands from the River Aire, but as Roall Ings will remain high, properties remain at risk of flooding.
Peak tides are falling throughout the week but will continue to slow the draining of the River Aire, and we expect river and washland levels to remain high into next week. Significant draining of washlands will only occur once river levels drop enough to allow them to drain.
Put your flood plan into action and please report any property flooding on 0800 807060. We are closely monitoring the situation from our incident room. See GOV.UK for a 5 day flood forecast. This message will be updated by 03:20, 01/03/20, or if the situation changes.
