Flooding expected. Take action now.
West Marsh and Hirst Courtney washlands levels continue to slowly fall so the movement of water towards Temple Hirst from the Hirst Courtney washlands has eased. The risk of property flooding will remain until levels on the Aire fall enough to allow the washlands to drain significantly. Properties in and around Temple Hirst are most at risk, and flooding continues to affect main roads in the area.
Levels in the River Aire rose slightly this morning, 29/02/20, and further rain this evening is expected to cause river levels to rise further and prevent significant draining of the washlands. Based on current forecasts there is potential for some further spilling from the river into the washlands for 6 to 8 hours from around midnight tonight, which may see levels at West Marsh rise.
Put your flood plan into action. For support call Selby District Council on 01757 705 101. To report property flooding call 0800 807060. This message will be updated by 21:00, 29/02/2020.
