Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels have risen at the Matlock river gauge as a result of Storm Babet. Consequently, flooding of property is imminent. Areas most at risk are Whatstandwell, including the Derwent Foundry, Merebrook Living Park, low lying properties, the A6 at Cromford, and Lea Wood. Residents of Merebrook Living Park are advised to evacuate urgently. Site egress is expected to be limited imminently, and electricity supply to residents lost.
Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until 01:00 on 22/10/2023.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and patrolling watercourses in the area.
Please move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety and activate any property flood protection products you may have, such as flood barriers and air brick covers.
This message will be updated by 03:30 tomorrow morning, 21/10/2023, or as the situation changes.
