Flooding expected. Take action now.

Flood warning

River levels are rising at the Matlock river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property is expected at around 04:00 on 21/01/2021. Areas most at risk are Whatstandwell, including the Derwent Foundry, the Whatstandwell Caravan Site, low lying properties, the A6 at Cromford, and Lea Wood. Flood water could be deep and fast flowing, and therefore pose a risk to life.
Further rainfall is forecast over the next 12 hours. We expect river levels to remain high until at least tomorrow.
We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services.
Please have a bag ready with vital items like medicines and insurance documents, and turn off gas, electricity and water.
This message will be updated this afternoon, 21/01/2021, or as the situation changes.
