Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Forecast rising river levels this evening, 15 January 2026, may lead to flooding overnight. Areas most at risk are low-lying agricultural land and roads along the River Smite. Church Gate and Bunnison Lane in Colston Bassett could be impassable, with potentially dangerous depths of flood water. Areas around the River Devon could also be affected at Easthorpe, Bottesford, Belvoir Lane and the Woolsthorpe to Belvoir road in Woolsthorpe, Church Lane and Main Street in Muston. There is moderate rainfall forecast this evening. River levels at Colston Bassett Gauge will begin rising at 19:00 on 15/01/26. We are closely monitoring the situation. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 10:00am on 16/01/26 or as the situation changes.
