Flooding expected. Take action now.
The flood warning for the River Foss upstream of Yearsley Baths to Strensall - Riverside properties only is now in force. This warning has been issued in response to rising river levels on the River Foss at Huntington due to prolonged rainfall. Levels are rising and are expected to continue to rise into the early hours of Thursday morning, 21/01/2021. Levels at Huntington are expected to reach 2.6m by 04:00 hours. The Foss Barrier is in operation and flood gates are closed. Please be aware that persistent and heavy rain is forecast until Thursday 21/01/2021. Please prepare your property, avoid using low lying footpaths and do not walk, cycle or drive through flood water. Please see the GOV.UK website for a 5 day flood forecast. We are closely monitoring the situation and will update this message in 8 hours, or as the situation changes.
