Flood warning

Property flooding is expected.
River levels are high but falling on the River Lambourn as a result of heavy rainfall. Therefore, flooding of property and roads is expected this morning, 29/03/2024. Impacts are most likely in the Shaw Road and Newport Road areas in Newbury. Further heavy showers are forecast today which have the potential to be heavy at times. Overnight is forecast to be mainly dry. We expect river levels to continue slowly falling, but levels will remain high and sensitive to further rainfall over the coming days. River levels may rise further if higher rainfall totals are observed this evening and overnight.
We are monitoring the situation. Move possessions and valuables off the ground or to safety. Activate any property flood protection products such as flood barriers. Do not drive through flood water. Go to the 'River and Sea levels in England' webpage for current river levels. This message will be updated this evening, 29/03/2024, or as the situation changes.
