The flood warning for the River Swale at Helperby remains in force. River levels are rising as a result of recent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of property, roads and farmland is possible. The level at Crakehill is 4.85m and rising. Further heavy rain is expected until Thursday morning 21/01/2021, and we expect river levels to rise accordingly. Areas most at risk are properties in Helperby. Please plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded and stay aware in case further warnings are issued. Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the forecast. Please see the GOV.UK website for current river levels. This message will be updated in 8 hours or as the situation changes.
