Flooding possible. Be prepared.

Flood alert

Sherbourne Lake levels have dropped slightly, now sitting just below the Flood Alert threshold of 3.55m. With further rainfall expected today, the Flood Alert is likely to remain in effect. This is mainly due to the river levels rising on the River Cam at Weston Bampfyld. Flooding may affect locations near Sherborne Lake, the River Yeo, River Cam, River Wriggle, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around the Sparkford to Weston Bampfylde road and Deep Ford Lane, Chetnole.

After overnight and morning rainfall Sunday (22/02/2026), the rain will ease in Somerset. Monday starts mostly dry, before a new weather system brings periods of rain, not forecast to bring high totals. Tuesday and Wednesday is expected to bring drier conditions.

We are monitoring rainfall and river levels. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 1PM on 23rd February 2026 or as the situation changes.
