Flood alert

Following on from Wednesday and Thursdays rainfall (19/02/2026) Sherbourne Lake remains just above the Flood Alert threshold of 3.55m. This means that the Lake is full and the spillway runs. Levels remain high but are coming down slowly. Flooding may affect locations near Sherborne Lake, the River Yeo, River Cam, River Wriggle, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around the Sparkford to Weston Bampfylde road and Deep Ford Lane, Chetnole.

Friday in Somerset starts dry before a band of rain moves through, followed by showers in the afternoon. Over the weekend, expect occasional rain Saturday, then a cold front Sunday bringing persistent rain.

We are monitoring rainfall and river levels. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. This message will be updated by 1PM on 21st February 2026 or as the situation changes.
