Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Water levels in the Tanners Brook are high and rising rapidly. In the last 12 hours, 22mm rainfall has been recorded in Romsey. This is a significant amount in a short period of time.
Over the next hour, rising river levels will stop drains from operating effectively. Minor road flooding will impact streets nearest to the river. Some garden flooding is also possible. The river is not high at Shirley Pond, but over the next 1 to 2 hours avoid Shirley Recreation Ground as footpaths may become inaccessible by foot.
Lighter rain is forecast until 15:00 so water levels will remain high until 18:00 but property flooding is not currently expected.
Our operational staff will clear debris screens at Shirley Pond and Blighmount Crescent to keep the river free of blockages.
