River levels rose overnight due to rainfall and melting of snow.
Levels remain high but are showing signs of beginning to peak. Flooding is still possible,
Areas most at risk include The Prison area in Wakefield including Moorhouse Avenue and adjoining roads, Alverthorpe Road, Victoria Avenue and Elder Green.
Wintry showers are clearing the areas this morning, Monday 6th January. after which it will be mainly dry and cold for the next few days.
We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one. Activate any property flood protection products you may have. This message will be updated by 05:00PM on 06/01/2025, or as the situation changes.
