Flooding expected. Take action now.
River levels rose overnight due to rainfall and melting of snow. Levels have peaked at Wrenthorpe and are slowly falling. Flooding is still possible,
Areas most at risk include The Prison area in Wakefield including Moorhouse Avenue and adjoining roads, Alverthorpe Road, Victoria Avenue and Elder Green.
Levels are forecast to continue to fall throughout this evening, Monday 6t January. Wintry showers cleared the area this morning, and we expect it to be mainly dry and cold for the next few days.
Avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not drive through floodwater. the situation changes.
We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one. Activate any property flood protection products you may have. This message will be updated by 01:00AM on 07/01/2025, or as the situation changes.
