Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Tuesday afternoon's tide at 12:30 on 11/02/2020 is forecast to be 20cm lower than recent days. However the tide will still be higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Westerly Force 7 winds and large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.32 m. The total forecast tide is 7.80 metres Chart Datum (4.15 mAOD) at Eastbourne. For 2 hours either side of high water, spray overtopping of defences will affect Carlisle Parade, Hastings. Water will flow across the road at Rock a Nore Parade. Tuesday and Wednesday evening's tides will be a little higher again and further minor flooding is expected over those high waters. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid walking or cycling at Hastings sea front. Spray and waves will contain and scatter shingle which is dangerous. The tide will also wash across some walking routes. We will update this message by 17:00 on 11/02/2020
