Flooding possible. Be prepared.
Friday afternoon's tide at 12:15 on 18/02/2022 is higher than normal due to Storm Eunice, which brings Storm Force 10 South Westerly winds and very large waves. The weather increases tide table values by 0.65 m. The total forecast tide is 7.74 metres Chart Datum (4.09 mAOD) at Eastbourne. For 2 hours either side of high water, spray overtopping defences will affect Carlisle Parade, Hastings. Water will flow across the road at Rock a Nore Parade. Friday evening’s tide will be 50cm lower. However, strong winds and large waves will continue over the weekend, albeit not as extreme. Saturday’s midday tide could see a return of minor flood impacts, when tide levels could be similar to midday Friday. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid walking or cycling at Hastings sea front. Spray and waves will contain and scatter shingle which is dangerous. The tide will also wash across some walking routes. We will update this message by 18:00 on 18/02/2022.
